L.P.G. Leaked Out On Istanbul Strait Due To A Hole On L.P.G. Tanker

ISTANBUL - Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) leaked out on the Istanbul Strait due to a hole on one of the LPG tanker which went adrift on the sea after a ro-ro ship carrying these tankers sank late on Saturday, Directorate General of Coastal Safety and Ship Rescue Enterprises (KEGKI) said.
The Directorate General said that gas leaked out as a hole occurred on a tanker off Ahirkapi coast, and added that efforts were under way to pull this tanker to the coast.
A ro-ro vessel of 335 gross tons sank off Zeytinburnu district of Istanbul late on Saturday after taking in water.
Eight people aboard the vessel were rescued by coast guard teams.
There were seven tankers aboard the vessel which were laden with Liquidated Petroleum Gas (LPG). After the vessel sank, the tankers were adrift in the Istanbul Strait.
