BRUSSELS - The European Union said Monday it opposed any use of force between China and Taiwan and warned against "any unilateral action" after the Chinese parliament adopted an "anti-secession" law giving its military the legal basis to attack Taiwan if the island moves towards independence.
"The EU urges all sides to avoid any unilateral action that could stoke tensions," the EU said, recalling the "constant principles that guide its policy, namely its commitment to the principle of one China and the peaceful resolution of dispute ... and its opposition to any use of force."
