US soldier killed in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD - A US soldier was shot dead Friday in the volatile northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the US military announced on Sunday.
"One Task Force Freedom Soldier was killed by small arms fire in Mosul March 11. The attack occurred at approximately 8:30 pm (1730 GMT)," the military said in a statement.
The death raised to 1,506 the number of soldiers killed in Iraq since the US invasion two years ago, according an estimate based on the latest tally from the Pentagon.
