LEFKOSA - Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat of TRNC- Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus said on Friday that the new coalition government of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and the Democrat Party (DP) would work for welfare and prosperity of Turkish Cypriot people, adding, ''we will continue expending efforts to find a solution (to Cyprus problem) and lifting of the blockade.''
Talat read out the four-page program of the coalition government at the parliament.
''This is a transitional government that will stay in office till the presidential elections to be held on April 17th, 2005. During such a short period of time, we will evaluate all opportunities for a solution, and take all necessary steps in cooperation and solidarity with Turkey,'' he said.
-LIMITED DUTIES-
Talat said, ''the coalition government will have limited duties since it will work till the presidential elections. The basic duty of the coalition government is to approve the Budget Law for the fiscal year of 2004.''

-TARGETS OF TRANSITION GOVERNMENT-

Prime Minister Talat listed targets of the new coalition government.
Talat said, ''prosperity and happiness of Turkish Cypriot people will always be basis of all activities of the coalition government. Efforts to lift the blockade and solve the Cyprus problem will continue. Opportunities for a solution will be assessed and necessary steps will be taken in cooperation and solidarity with Turkey. Adjustment efforts to EU acquis will also continue.'' ''Restructuring efforts in economy will continue. Encouragement of private enterprises will go on and tourism will be promoted. Activities for adjustment of agricultural production and marketing to EU joint agriculture policy acquis will be pursued. Measures which will encourage women's active participation in social life will be broadened,'' noted Talat.

-VOTE OF CONFIDENCE NEXT WEEK-

Two days after the reading of the program at the Parliament, talks will start on it. Vote of confidence will be held a day after the meeting ends.
''Yes'' vote of 26 deputies are necessary for confidence. There are 50 deputies at TRNC Parliament. CTP has 24, DP has 6, the National Unity Party (UBP) has 19 and Peace & Democracy Movement (BDH) has only one seat at the parliament.
