LONDON - The dollar weakened across the board Friday after official data showed the US trade deficit in January was wider than expected.
The gap widened by 4.5 percent in January to a seasonally adjusted 58.3 billion dollars, the second highest on record and bigger than the 56.5 billion shortfall predicted.
The euro rose to 1.3482 dollars, its highest level since January 4, from 1.3417 dollars just ahead of the news.
The pound rose to 1.9283 dollars from 1.9217.
