If There Is No Problem, Why Journalists Write Such Articles?

Fatih Altayli, columnist of the Hurriyet daily, quoted Richard Boucher, the spokesman of the U.S. State Department, as saying that there were not any problem in Turkish-American relations, and that they were not interested in what was written in the U.S. press.
''However, the situation is totally different. When we read articles of some American journalists, it is evident that they were orientated by the U.S. administration, and especially by the U.S. Embassy in Ankara. Furthermore, if articles of the U.S. press do not reflect the 'view' of the U.S. administration, then how can the Turkish government be held responsible for articles of Turkish journalists? Also, they think that anti-American articles in several (Turkish) newspapers, which we can describe as marginal, showed Turkey's political position, while they ignored an editorial by the editor-in-chief of the biggest newspaper of Turkey who clearly said, 'I am in favor of friendship with the United States'. It occurred to me that there are some circles trying to damage Turkish-American relations and play havoc with the balances in the region. Only the mutual attitude of Turkey and the United States can hamper their plans. However, the countries are far away from seeing this fact recently,'' Altayli said.
