VIENNA - A Danish skier has been killed in an avalanche in Austria, the interior ministry said Friday, raising the death toll this winter to 32.
The 47-year-old was skiing off-piste in Grossarl, near Salzburg, when the avalanche occurred.
The Austrian interior ministry says that avalanches have killed at least 27 people this season, as well as another five who are "missing presumed dead."
Five skiers were rescued early Thursday, but authorities fear more deaths this weekend when the risk of avalanche is rated as high.
