THE HAGUE - A second Kosovo Albanian war crimes suspect, Lahi Brahimaj, surrendered to the UN tribunal on Wednesday after he flew to the Netherlands with former Kosovo prime minister Ramush Haradinaj, a court spokesman said.
Spokesman Jim Landale could not give any details of the charges against Brahimaj, a colonel in the emergency reaction force the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC). But he is thought to be named on the same indictment as Hardinaj as the two were close allies during the 1998-99 Kosovo war.
The tribunal has not yet made the indictment against Haradinaj public but it is reportedly related to his leading role in the ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) during the war in Kosovo between the KLA and Serb security forces.
The mission of the KPC, formed after the dismantling of the KLA, is to react to humanitarian catastrophes, although its members are allowed to carry a limited number of weapons.
