'No progress' in NIreland until end to violence: Blair

LONDON - British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Wednesday there could be no progress in Northern Ireland involving the republican Sinn Fein party until there was a total end to violence, after the killing of a Catholic man by paramilitaries.
"There is no way we can make any progress in Northern Ireland that includes Sinn Fein unless we can have a complete and total end to violence of whatever kind," Blair told parliament.
He was denouncing an offer by the Catholic paramilitary Irish Republican Army, which is linked to Sinn Fein, to shoot the dead man's killers, at least two of whom are IRA members.
