During an international conference held in Tokyo yesterday on Afghanistan’s future, Development Minister Cevdet Yilmaz announced that Turkey would provide $150 million in aid to Afghanistan from 2015 to 2017 for development projects.
The main topics discussed at the meeting which was attended by representatives from 55 countries and 24 international organizations included the methods aimed at maintaining the process of development in Afghanistan, as well as security and peace processes, management mechanisms, regional cooperation, private sector and civilian organization.
Yilmaz, who represented Turkey at the conference, praised Afghanistan’s efforts on preparing a strategic vision that would help lead the country’s development. Yilmaz also underlined that the organization and such undertakings aimed to ensure welfare, permanent peace and stability in Afghanistan, adding that $150 million in aid to be provided by Turkey for development projects, with a special focus on capacity-building and human capital including education, training and development.
