PRESIDENT DERVIS EROGLU: “I AM LOSING MY HOPES FOR UNIFICATION”
President Eroglu gave an interview to the Ittihad Newspaper which is being published inPakistan and explained the latest developments in the Cyprus issue.
Pointing out that Greek Cypriot administration is a recognized state which is also a UN and EU member Eroglu stressed that the Greek Cypriot administration is carrying out negotiations just for having a meeting.
Eroglu said: “I can say that I am losing my hopes for unification” and continued by adding that this is the result of Greek Cypriot side’s unwillingness in the unification of the island.
Reminding that if the Greek Cypriots wanted an agreement then they had accepted the Annan Plan Eroglu said that the Annan Plan was a good and beneficial plan for the Greek Cypriots.
After being asked about his expectations from generally the international community and specially Pakistan and other Moslem countries in case there would be no solution Eroglu said: “We can not complain about Pakistan. They accepted our representative office at once. Our representative in Pakistan is allowed to carry TRNC flag on his official car.Pakistan was ready to recognize us if some political obstructions were not created. Therefore we cannot complain about Pakistan. Like Turkey, Pakistan is a brother country for us.
Eroglu continued by adding that “Many good decisions are being taken at every Islamic Cooperation Meeting. We are expecting these decisions to be carried out. We are telling that Europe has imposed embargoes on us however some of our Moslem brothers are abiding by this decision. No direct flight has been realized from any Moslem country other than Turkey yet.”
“AUTONOMOUS MISSING PERSONS COMMITTEE WILL BE CLOSED”
3rd member of Autonomous Missing Persons Committee Christophe Girod stated that Autonomous Missing Persons Committee will be closed in case Greek Cypriot Genetic Institution does not give the databases.
At an interview to the Greek Cypriot daily Fileleftheros, Girod stated that the mistake was made from the beginning when the DNA bank was left to the Greek Cypriot Genetic Institution.
Replying to the question whether the image concerning the program was negatively affected internationally or not Girod stated that the image was really damaged, the European Commission, European Parliament and the UN experts asked him what was going on.
Girod added that was a hard period, and they were trying to change the design of the program with the best world-wide known scientific implementations.
KUCUK MET WITH ERDOGAN
Prime Minister İrsen Küçük has met with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan inAntalya. Turkish Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister in Charge of Cyprus Affairs, BeÅŸir Atalay also attended the meeting. Following the meeting the participants had a working lunch together.
MARTYR LIEUTENANT CANER GONYELI 2012 SEARCH AND RESCUE EXERCISE STARTING TODAY
The ‘Martyr Lieutenant Caner Gonyeli 2012 Search and Rescue Exercise’ is starting today. The exercise will be carried on with the civilian and military elements that are included in the search and rescue organizations of the Republic of Turkey and the TurkishRepublic of Northern Cyprus, in the Eastern Mediterranean, off coast of Famagusta, territory and sea water of TRNC and within Turkey’s search and rescue region.
The land stage of the exercise will be held on 12 June 2012 and the sea stage on 13 June 2012.
