TRNC PRESIDENT “RUSSIA, CHINA AND FRANCE ARE OBSTACLES FOR A SOLUTION”
TRNC President Dr. DerviÅŸ EroÄŸlu was the guest in the common broadcasting of Turkish Cypriot Televisions Union last night and answered the questions of the press members. The President stated that the Greek Cypriots and the members of UN Security Council Russia, China and France obstruct the solution atmosphere in Cyprus. EroÄŸlu stated that in case Greek Cypriots intended, agreement could be reached in 15 days.
EroÄŸlu said “whenever solution possibility is brought into agenda in Cyprus, the members of UN Security Council Russia, China and France obstruct it. Why do Greek Cypriots want a solution under these circumstances”.
Pointing out that even Russia vetoed the report prepared by Annan, DerviÅŸ EroÄŸlu said “Russia says that there will not be time-limit in the negotiations. The current UN Secretary General puts forth the proposal of introducing time-limit in negotiations to the UN Security Council, Russia vetoes. Unfortunately, these 3 countries block the solution in Cyprus”.
GREEK CYPRIOT CENTRAL BANK NEEDS EU AID
It was stated that Greek Cypriot Administration needs EU’s financial aid for the banks in order to struggle with the effect of the crisis in Greece.
According to Financial Times, the Director of Greek Cypriot Central Bank Panikos Dimitriades stated that in order to strengthen financial situation of Popular Bank which is the second biggest bank which gives credit they needed 1.8 billion Euros immediately.
In the news, it was also noted that EU Aid is a sharp turning for Greek Cypriot government which preferred to take aid from Russia until today and as a country which is being prepared for EU Term Presidency in the next month.
