In Deyr’uz Zur people gathered to welcome UN observers. Security forces sprayed the crowds with bullets before the eyes of observers. In other parts of the country Assad forces opened fire on the people and 5 people were killed in a bomb blast at a restaurant in Damascus.
As the attacks and clashes are underway, UN observers mediated between Assad forces and opposition forces in a town near Idlib. Two detained opposition fighters were swapped for a damaged tank. A Turkish truck driver was caught in the middle of cross-fire near Idlib, he escaped without injuries but his truck received 36 bullets. Meanwhile, in Aleppo 13 Lebanese citizens have been abducted. Relatives of the abducted people burned tires and blocked transportation in Beirut. Hezbollah leader Hasan Nasrallah called for calm to the families.
On another front, Palestinian author Salame Kaile, who spent some time in a Syrian prison defined the experience as "hell".
