On the first day of his visit, Prime Minister ErdoÄŸan delivered a speech at a joint session of the Pakistani National Assembly and the Senate.

Addressing the Pakistani Parliament, Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan pointed out to unrest in the Middle East in the post-Arab Spring period and said, “I believe if a strong Islamic World exists then we will have the opportunity to solve all these problems with peaceful means.”

Pakistani deputies showed their appreciation for the Erdoğan’s speech by hitting their desks at the parliament.

Erdoğan said, “As long as we are in solidarity to preserve our brotherhood, which is deep rooted in our history, no regional matter could be an obstacle before our peace and stability.

However, I have to also say that we are also witnessing what has been going on in the Islamic World.

The process that began in Tunis, and then followed by Egypt, Yemen, and Palestine as well as the developments in Syria and likewise in Iraq: if a strong Islamic World is formed then solving all these problems with peaceful means would be possible.”

ErdoÄŸan will attend the Second High Level Cooperation Meeting on Tuesday.

At the High Level Cooperation Meeting, an agreement will be signed to raise the bilateral trade volume to $2 billion.

Within the scope of his visit, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan will meet his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani as well as Chairman of the Pakistani Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, Pakistan National Assembly Speaker Fehmida Mirza and main opposition party leader Nawaz Sharif.

Paying his fifth visit to Pakistan, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan will be accompanied by seven members of the cabinet during his contacts that will be lasting three days.
