ANKARA - ''We had constructive talks with the Turkish party about European Union (EU)-NATO strategic relations, however we could not obtain a result,'' European Commissioner for enlargement Olli Rehn said on Monday.
Rehn held a press conference following his meetings in Ankara.
Giving information to journalists about his meetings, Rehn said they discussed the road map that would be followed till October 3rd.
Rehn said the Turkish government promised to sign customs union supplementary protocol, noting that he encouraged the Turkish party not to lose momentum in reforms.
Rehn said in a statement issued today, they condemned use of excessive force by police during a demonstration held in Istanbul yesterday (Sunday). He said they got a positive message from the Turkish government that the issue will be taken up seriously.
Rehn also said studies continued about the regulations which the EU is expected to issue toward Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
