ANKARA - Turkey-European Union (EU) Troika convened in Turkish capital of Ankara today (Monday). This is the first meeting of Turkey-EU Troika held after December 17th, 2004 (when the European Council decided to open full membership negotiations with Turkey, on October 3rd, 2005).
Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, European Commissioner for enlargement Olli Rehn, EU Acting President Luxembourg's Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn and British Minister for Europe Denis MacShane are participating in the meeting.
Murat Sungar, Turkey's Secretary General for the EU; Volkan Bozkir, Turkish Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary; and Hansjoerg Kretschmer, the head of Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey; are the other participants.
The road map to be followed till October 3rd is expected to be outlined in the meeting. Also, topics like Accession Partnership Accord to be revised by the Commission, the framework of negotiations, the document on cultural and political dialogue among non-governmental organizations, the screening process and accession negotiations will be taken up in the meeting.
