MADRID - Tezeta Dengersa of Turkey won silver medal in 3,000 meter women's event in the 28th European Indoor Athletics Championships held in Spanish capital of Madrid on Sunday.
Dengersa could not catch up with her Polish rival Lidia Chojecka, but could overtake her Austrian rival Susanne Pumper in the last lap. Thus, she was classified second in the event with 8.46.65 seconds and won silver medal.
This is the first time Turkey won a medal in European Indoor Athletics Championships.
