“B PLAN CALL†FROM THE TURKISH CYPRIOTS LIVING ABROAD
Association of Turkish Cypriots Abroad (ATCA) called people and Turkish Cypriot associations for support to a “B Plan call†related to the Cyprus Problem.
ATCA requested from UN, the realization of Turkish Cypriot human rights if no solution was found to the Cyprus Problem till the end of June and a new approach different from the existing negotiation framework considering two equal peoples and two sovereign states peaceful existence.
ATCA’s TRNC Representative Kerem Hasan, held a press conference at the Foreign Press Union together with the British former parliamentarian and the representative of settled Britons, Stephen Day.
Hasan, told that they wanted lifting of the isolation on TRNC and a switch to a basis regarding Turkish Cypriot people’s sovereignty, if a solution could not be achieved till the 30th of June, which is the takeover date of the EU term presidency for Greek Cypriot Administration.
Stephen Day told at the press conference that Turkish Cypriots did their best for a solution voting in favor of the “Annan Planâ€. He added that, “The promises given by the international community was not kept†and it’s just the time for a change.
The written statement which would be delivered to the UN includes the following sentences:
“Despite, reiterating our decisiveness to support the two leaders and their efforts in finding a comprehensive solution till 30th of June, we request a change in the UN paradigms for motivating the two sides and in connection putting all available options on the negotiating table.
Those options should include, lifting of economic, social and political isolation, upgrading the TRNC’s international status, and ‘negotiation for separation’ for a peaceful existence of two separate, sovereign recognized states on Cyprus.
International community should take necessary precautions in order to avoid any repetition of the ill-fated situations occurred after 2004 ‘Annan Plan’ referendum. In those days UN and the whole world silently gazed at EU accepting a divided Cyprus into the union as the representative of two peoples living on the island.
We believe that repeatedly ignoring and the unjust treatment against Turkish Cypriots, decreases the wish of Greek Cypriots for a solution and creates a loss in the Turkish Cypriot beliefs in the international community.â€
