Talat Assesses U.S. Human Rights Report

LEFKOSA - Premier Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) assessed the part about the TRNC in U.S. Human Rights Report and said, ''it is not bad.''
Talat said, ''when expressions in the report about northern Cyprus and southern Cyprus are compared, it is seen that the situation is not bad. The important point is that the TRNC has started to be given place in world statistics.''
Upon questions of reporters about the report, Talat said, ''a separate part was reserved for the TRNC in U.S. Human Rights Report. It is known that there are several weaknesses in the country about human rights.''
''The important point is that the TRNC now takes place in world statistics. It has gained speed after referendum,'' he added.
Talat said, ''Turkish Cypriots have been making radical changes. And this has positive global impacts. Now, the world does not exclude the TRNC.''
