Security Operations Against Counterfeit Raki In Sakarya And Kayseri

HENDEK/KAYSERI - Security operations have been launched against counterfeit raki in northwestern city of Sakarya and central Anatolian city of Kayseri, said sources on Thursday.
In an operation, Gendarmery detained two people on charges of producing counterfeit raki in a house in Hendek town of Sakarya.
In another operation at a shop in Caferbey district of Kayseri, police confiscated 11 bottles of fake raki and detained the owner of the shop.
A total of nine people were detained in yesterday's operations in Istanbul regarding fake raki incident.
Eight people died and 44 were hospitalized after drinking fake raki in several places of Istanbul.
Raki is a traditional Turkish alcoholic beverage strongly aromatized with anise-seed.
