Jake Walter Nicklaus, a 17-month-old grandson of golf icon Jack Nicklaus, died Tuesday after being found unresponsive in a hot tub at a North Palm Beach, Florida, residence.
The child's nanny discovered him in the jacuzzi and emergency physicians worked for over an hour in an attempt to revive him, without success.
A spokesperson for the local sheriff's office said there was no sign of foul play, adding that the toddler had apparently wandered into the hot tub on his own.
Authorities questioned the nanny, who had been employed since November by the boy's parents, Steve and Barbara Nicklaus. Steve Nicklaus, 41, is a golf course designer and the son of the 65-year-old legend. The infant was the second youngest of Jack Nicklaus's 18 grandchildren.
