Davutoglu urged Syria to end violence

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu made an appeal to Syria from Moscow, where he went to attend the Joint Strategic Planning Group meetings.

Davutoglu said "I wish Syria listened to the advices of friendly nations, such as Turkey and Russia; it would have become a model country in the Middle East."

Regarding developments in Libya Foreign Minister Davutoglu said "If a nation in any country voices democratic demands, Turkey will support them. But we will not interfere in others’ domestic affairs, or manipulate them. We seek peaceful and democratic methods in these processes. We stuck to these principles both in the cases of Syria and Libya. We repeat our call on the Syrian administration from Moscow. They must end violence against people and launch a reforms process. But even as we speak, Syrian people are dying. Syrian opposition prefers Turkey to convene; if only Syria was a free country and they could have done their meetings there."
