The critical Cyprus Summit starts today.
At the summit to be held in Greentree, New York, in the United States, President DerviÅŸ EroÄŸlu of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, leader of the Greek Cypriot administration Dimitris Christofias and U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon will meet for the 5th time.
Talks will also be attended by Ban Ki-moon’s special adviser on Cyprus Alexander Downer. The two day talks in Greentree, New York will be held behind closed doors.
Alexander Downer is expected to brief the press on talks held on the first day and U.N.
Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon is expected to hold a news conference on the two day talks on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the U.S. administration called on the sides who will attend the 5th three party.
Cyprus talks to make use of this "significant opportunity" for the settlement of the Cyprus issue.
Diplomatic sources draw attention to the fact that Greek Cypriots will take over the EU term presidency on July 1 and U.N. Secretary General is expending efforts for progress being made at talks before this date.
