Hurriyet- ''(Ruling) AKP (Justice & Development Party) leader Recep Tayip Erdogan was owning shares in three companies distributing 'Ulker' food group products. This was a matter disturbing him for two years'', writes Sedat Ergin, a columnist of the Hurriyet daily in his article in today's edition.
Ergin writes, ''Nurten Erk, one of our reporters in the economy desk, wrote two separate stories about Erdogan in recent days and said that Erdogan decided to go on his own way. Does Erdogan's decision to separate roads with Ulker mean he is totally withdrawing from business? I asked this question to a close adviser of the prime minister. He said that PM Erdogan had sold all his shares and totally withdrawn from business,'' said Sedat Ergin in his column.
Ergin added, ''we have insistently written about commercial activities of Prime Minister Erdogan in the last two years. In all these articles, we stressed that the prime minister's commercial activities which will require him to be called a tradesman are not ethically right. The fact that Prime Minister Erdogan has sold all his shares, --although this is a delayed decision--, undoubtedly shows that he is taking into consideration the concerns of the public. And, this behavior should be appreciated.''
