The Founding President Rauf Raif Denktas will be laid to rest today. The late President’s body will be placed on a gun carriage after the ceramony at the Presidential Palace at 10:45 and will be taken to the Selimiye Mosque in Lefkosa. After the funeral prayer at 12:30, Founding President’s casket will be placed on a gun carriage again and will be taken to Girne Gate at 13:00 and then to Cumhuriyet Park. After the ceramony to be held at Cumhuriyet Park at 15:30 pm, Founding President Rauf Raif Denktas will be laid to rest.
High level authorities of Turkey will be attending to the funeral service.

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu stressed that Rauf Raif Denktas, the Founding President of the TRNC takes place among the unforgettable leaders of Turkish and Muslim World with his personality and courage.
In his message which was sent to the President Dervis Eroglu for the death of Denktas, Ihsanoglu sent condolences to Denktas family and Turkish Cypriot people on behalf of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Ihsanoglu will be attending to the funeral service today.
‘Rauf Raif Denktas takes place among unforgettable leaders of the Turkish and Muslim World. He earned respect of everybody because of his struggle for the right cause of the Turkish Cypriots and he set an example for the politicians. In this sense, Turkish and Islamic World lost a treasure’ Ihsanoglu expressed.
BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER KIDD SENT A LETTER OF CONDOLENCE TO PRESIDENT EROGLU
British High Commissioner to Lefkosa Mathew Kidd sent a letter of condolence to the President Dervis Eroglu for the death of the Founding President Rauf Raif Denktas.
According to the information gained by the TRNC Presidency, in his message, Kidd expressed his grief for the death of Rauf Raif Denktas.
Moreover, expressing that Denktas was a very important person, Kidd said that his Turkish Cypriot friends talk about the time spent with Denktas with reverences.
Kidd also expressed that he found the opportunity to see the hospitality, ambition and intelligence of the Founding President Rauf Raif Denktas during his first and last term of office.
