MOSCOW, Feb 22 (AFP) - Nine Russian troops were killed and three more injured when a poultry processing factory in the suburbs of Chechnya's capital Grozny collapsed, the Interfax news agency reported Tuesday quoting police sources.
"The tragedy's circumstances are not yet clear. The information we have is that nine soldiers were killed and three wounded when a poultry factory collapsed," the source said, adding that the information was "preliminary."
Some 80,000 Russian troops are based in and around Chechnya, where a guerrilla war continues to rage more than five years after the most recent conflict in the breakaway republic began.
