UK Expands Recall Over Cancer-Linked Food Dye

Britain's Food Standards Agency added 38 more products, including sausages, pizzas, and seasonings, to a growing recall list over contamination with Sudan I, an illegal carcinogenic dye. The agency had already pulled 359 items from shelves on Friday.

Sudan I, normally used in products like shoe polish and petrol, entered the food supply through tainted chili powder used by Premium Foods to produce Worcester sauce, which then appeared as an ingredient across a wide range of foods.

Health officials described the cancer risk as very small at detected levels, with no immediate danger, but advised consumers to stop eating affected products and return them to retailers.
