JERUSALEM, Feb 21 (AFP) - An Israeli military court sentenced a Palestinian militant from the radical Al Aqsa Martrys' Brigades to five life sentences for involvement in anti-Israeli attacks, judicial sources said.
Hussein Abu Leil was handed four life sentences for the deaths of two soldiers, shot in an attack at an unidentified military base, in which eight others were wounded. The sentence also related to his involvement in two other attacks in which another four people were wounded.
The fifth life sentence was for Abu Leil's involvement in some 14 shooting attacks, for planting explosives and for attempts to plan a triple suicide bombing, the sources said.
In a separate ruling, an Israeli military court sentenced Yasser Abu Deiya, another Al Aqsa militant, to 11 years in jail and fined him 12,000 shekels (2,750 dollars) for his involvement in shooting attacks against the Jewish settlement suburb of Gilo in southern Jerusalem, his family told AFP.
And judges at Haifa magistrates court in northern Israel, sentenced Bassem Mahajna, an Arab Israeli from the northern town of Umm al-Fahm, to seven-and-a-half years in jail for harming state security by passing information on to Palestinian militants planning a suicide attack, judicial sources said.
