TRNC Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that it would be never possible that the two equal peoples in Cyprus would share a majority-minority relationship and that a unitary state would be established.
In a written statement Ozgurgun said: “The recent statement of Greek archbishop Chrisostomos calling for a unitary solution by which majority would rule the minority in Cyprus is not a surprise for us since it is in line with what he said until now. â€
Foreign Minister evaluated this statement as being made as a result of political desire and said: “We suppose that Chrisostomos has a principle knowledge related to the history of the island therefore he knows that there has never been a majority –minority relationship between the Turkish and Greek Cypriot peoples in Cyprus so we evaluate the mentioned statement as being made after political desire. Such political moves of Archbishop have been creating a very desperate situation for the Greek Cypriot people and Greek Cypriot politicians. Such statements also put forward that the Greek Cypriot administration is very far from universal and EU principles. We believe that after such statements the time has come for the third parties to examine once more this structure which they take into the EU and spoiled.â€
