Turkish police on Friday disposed of a cluster bomb found in the café of the Diyarbakır-based Dicle University, preventing a possible explosion that would have led to casualties.
Turkish news portal ntvmsnbc.com said that a security worker at the university’s engineering faculty found a suspicious package placed in the ventilation of the café of the faculty building. Police teams who arrived at the faculty evacuated the building and bomb disposal units, who ascertained that the package indeed contained a bomb, disposed of the explosive.
Police also searched the building, fearing more bombs would have been placed but no other explosives were found.
