LOS ANGELES, Feb 20 (AFP) - Will Smith's romantic comedy "Hitch" charmed moviegoers for a second straight weekend, topping the North American box office with 31.8 million dollars, preliminary figures showed Sunday.
The film, a story about a dating consultant, raked in 43.1 million dollars last weekend and has garnered 90.1 million dollars so far, according to Exhibitor Relations.
Keanu Reeves' thriller "Constantine," a tale of a supernatural detective fighting demons, opened in second place with 30.5 million dollars.
"Because of Winn-Dixie," a family comedy about a girl who adopts a stray dog, debuted in third place with 10.8 million dollars, followed by the comedy "Son of the Mask" with 7.6 million dollars.
Best film Oscar contender "Million Dollar Baby," directed by Clint Eastwood, dropped from fourth to fifth place with 7.1 million dollars.
The road trip comedy "Are We There Yet" finished sixth with 6.5 million dollars, ahead of the fright flick "Boogeyman," which earned 5.5 million dollars.
The animated children's film "Pooh's Heffalump Movie" followed with 4.4 million, ahead of Oscar-nominated flick "The Aviator," which raked in 4.1 million dollars.
The comedy "Sideways," also a best film Oscar finalist, rounded up the top 10 with 3.9 million dollars.
Final figures are due Monday.
