MUNICH, Germany, Feb 18 (AFP) - German luxury car maker BMW said Friday it was in talks regarding a possible cooperation in the area of motor cycles with Aprilia, a unit of Piaggio.
"Talks are underway regarding the possible signing of a deal in the areas of development and production," a BMW spokesman said.
The two companies were considering developing new models in segments where they were not yet present, he said.
Nevertheless, "nothing has been signed yet," the spokesman insisted.
BMW is the only German car maker still making motor cycles.
In the nine months to September, the division generated sales of 837 million euros (one billion dollars), compared with overall group sales of 33.3 billion euros.
