Turkish Female Prayer To Sweden

STOCKHOLM - Turkish Directorate General of Religious Affairs appointed a female prayer to Sweden upon request of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.
Ismail Isi, the religious affairs officer of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm, said on Thursday, ''Muslim men are able to receive religious information in mosques, but women do not have such an opportunity. Therefore, we requested Turkish authorities to appoint a female prayer, and our request was accepted.''
Emine Baydemir, 40, who graduated from the 9 Eylul University Faculty of Theology, will start her new duty on Friday. Baydemir will brief Muslim women on religious issues at meetings to be held in mosques in Sweden.
Turkey will appoint a female prayer to Sweden for the first time. Earlier, Turkish Directorate General of Religious Affairs appointed female prayers to Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Austria.
