TIRANA - Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan met his Albanian counterpart Fatos Nano on Tuesday.
Following their bilateral meeting, two ministers headed meetings between Turkish and Albanian delegations.
Albanian Transport and Telecommunications Minister Spartak Poci, Albanian State Minister Marko Bello and Turkish Ambassador in Tirana Suphan Erkula also attended the meetings.
Level of relations between Turkey and Albania was taken up during the meetings. Sides agreed to further strengthen relations on every area. Officials said that one of the most important relations between two countries is on military area, and they wanted to develop economic relations as well.
Sides wanted increase of investments of Turkish entrepreneurs in Albania as well as participation of Turkish firms in privatization of strategic sectors of Albanian economy.
Erdogan said after meetings, ''Turkey will contribute to membership of Albania in NATO. NATO membership of Albania will be very important for Balkan countries.''
Erdogan said, ''a Turkish university will be opened in Tirana. Information about Turkey-Albania relations should be reflected correctly in Albanian history books.''
Albanian Premier Nano said, ''there are perfect relations in political and military areas between Turkey and Albania. These relations should be developed in economic area as well.''
Nano noted, ''we want to benefit from Turkey's experience in tourism area'' and asked for contribution of Turkish investors to touristic facilities which will be constructed through coastline of Albania.
Nano called Turkish companies to participate in privatization of Albanian Telecom.
Following the meetings, Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim and Albanian Transport and Telecommunications Minister Spartak Poci signed a maritime cooperation agreement.
