LONDON, Feb 9 (AFP) - Harry Potter fans have placed more than 100,000 orders with Amazon.co.uk for the next installment of the boy wizard's adventure, which comes out in July, the online bookseller said Wednesday.
The children's version of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince", thought to feature a unique cover design, hit the top of Amazon's book chart within 24 hours of the start of pre-orders, with the adult version at number five.
Amazon expects to deliver the book to British homes on its release date of July 16, when brick and mortar booksellers are expected to host their own in-store Harry Potter events.
The previous book in author J.K Rowling's hit series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," remains Amazon's best-selling item ever. It attracted 420,000 pre-orders before its release in mid-2003.
