ISTANBUL - Turkish National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul left for France on Wednesday to attend an informal meeting of NATO defense ministers.
Defense ministers will take stock of the Alliance's transformation and review its operations in the meeting, which will take place in Nice between February 9th and 10th.
Gonul is expected to return to Turkey on February 11th.
NATO's informal meetings traditionally have no fixed agenda and no formal decisions are taken. They allow ministers to discuss freely issues on NATO's agenda. They are also expected to review and discuss the way ahead for NATO's operations in Afghanistan, Kosovo and the Mediterranean, as well as its assistance to Iraq.
