Tuzmen: We Aim To Increase Our Trade Volume With Tunisia Up To 1 Billion U.S.D.

ANKARA - ''We aim to increase our trade volume with Tunisia up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in the next three years,'' Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Wednesday.
Tuzmen met Tunisian Foreign Minister Abdelbaki Hermassi, who is currently in Ankara on an official visit.
Speaking at the meeting, Tuzmen said, ''the free trade agreement, which was signed between Turkey and Tunisia last year, will make a significant contribution to improvement of bilateral economic and commercial relations. Current trade volume between our two countries is about 300 million U.S. dollars. We aim to increase it up to 1 billion U.S. dollars in the next three years.''
Meanwhile, Hermassi said, ''we have signed a partnership agreement with EU-member countries. During our meetings with EU officials, we agreed to increase our exports of textile products to the EU. We requested them to provide flexibility to some extent in the agreement since we want to diversify our resources. We aim to import textile products from Turkey. We held necessary talks with the EU to this end. The EU-member countries welcomed our demand. Now, we have been working to set up a mechanism between Turkey and Tunisia.''
