70.2 Percent Of Turks Support E.U. Membership

ANKARA - In a survey conducted by the Turkish State Statistics Institute (DIE), 70.2 percent of Turks indicated that, if there is a referendum, they would vote in favor of full membership to the European Union (EU).
''Citizens' Perspectives on EU Membership'' survey's results was made public today. Accordingly, only 16.2 of the interviewees expressed their opposition to Turkey's adhesion to the EU.
While 77.5 p.c. of the male citizens voted in favor of Turkey's membership, the percentage of women supporting Turkey's membership remained at 63.1 percent. Only 17.1 percent of men and 15.3 p.c. of women opposed to Turkey's membership.
