Two Iraqi voters killed, woman kidnapped south of Baghdad

MADHMUDIYAH, Iraq, Feb 8 (AFP) - Two Iraqi men were shot dead apparently for having voted in the January 30 elections and a woman was kidnapped Tuesday in the "Triangle of Death" south of Baghdad, police said.
"The owner of the oldest coffee shop in Mahmudiyah and his son were killed by gunmen," a police officer said, adding that the Shiite Muslim owner had been shot dead because he voted.
Mahmudiyah lies in a lawless area south of the Iraqi capital where killings and kidnappings carried out by Sunni Arab insurgents and criminal gangs are daily events.
A woman working for Mahmudiyah's city council was kidnapped as she left her office, the police officer said, adding no group had yet claimed responsibility for the abduction.
