ANKARA - Turkey welcomed the summit which Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas held in Sharm el-Sheikh and its results on Tuesday.
Turkish Foreign Ministry stated, ``on current stage, Turkey sincerely wishes sides to be loyal to their commitments in Sharm el-Sheikh, to protect the positive milieu, and to head towards peace target which is clearly set in Article No. 1397 of UN Security Council.``
``Turkey welcomed the Summit which Sharon and Abbas held in Sharm el-Sheikh and its results,`` noted the Ministry.
``Israel and Palestine made commitments to end violence and they declared to be loyal on vision of two independent states living side by side. This strengthened hopes that pain and destruction in the region, continuing for 4 years, will end,`` said the Ministry.
The Ministry said, ``as Turkey has expressed in meetings with Israeli and Palestinian leaders in recent weeks, it is determined to support and contribute every step and effort for permanent peace target.``
