ANKARA - World-famous U.S. speculator and investor George Soros said on Sunday that he was planning to make new investments in Turkey.
Soros told A.A correspondent that Turkey's winning a negotiation date from the European Union (EU) was important, and noted that reforms Turkey would make as a part of its efforts to adjust to the EU would make Turkey a more attractive country.
Underlining geostrategic importance of Turkey, Soros said that Turkey was the most effective country in its region.
Soros had met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) held in Davos, Switzerland in January. Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan and Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan also attended this meeting.
