ISTANBUL - Heavy snowfall and bad weather conditions paralyzed daily life throughout Turkey on Sunday.
Schools were closed for one day (Monday) in northwestern metropolis of Istanbul due to heavy snowfall, Istanbul National Education Director Omer Balibey said.
Highway and air traffic were also negatively affected by the heavy snowfall in Istanbul. Turkish Airlines (THY) delayed its flight from Istanbul to central city of Kayseri since Kayseri's Erkilet Airport was covered with snow, while THY's flights from Istanbul to Jeddah and Singapore were directed to southern city of Antalya and capital Ankara.
There was traffic jam in arteries and streets of Istanbul, sources said.
On the other hand, 60 village roads in central city of Kayseri and northwestern city of Adapazari were closed. Also, 83 villages roads were blocked by heavy snowfall in northwestern city of Duzce.
