E.U. Is The Target For Automobile Exports In 2005

BURSA - Considered as the engine of the Turkish economy by many experts, Turkish automobile industry exported 73.4 percent of its output to the 24 European Union (EU) member countries in January, 2005.
Excluding the Greek Cypriot administration, but including EU candidate countries Romania and Bulgaria, the EU imported 75.7 percent of all Turkey's auto exports.
According to the Uludag Exporters Union (UIB), Turkey exported cars to 124 countries and 11 free trade zones.
The Turkish auto industry's export revenues last year reached an impressive 944 million U.S. dollars. Out of this amount, 693 million U.S. dollars came from EU member countries.
-OVER HALF OF THE AUTO EXPORTS DESTINED TO 5 COUNTRIES
EU member countries Germany, France, Italy, The Netherlands and Britain paid a total of 504 million U.S. dollars to the Turkish auto industry and collectively imported half of all cars exported by Turkey last year.
There were no exports from Turkey to the Greek Cypriots.
While EU member and candidate countries as a whole paid 715 million U.S. dollars for Turkey's auto exports, the remaining 98 countries worldwide only purchased autos worth 229 million U.S. dollars.
