KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 (AFP) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Malaysia Monday as part of a working tour of countries hit by the December 26 tsunamis which left nearly 300,000 people believed dead.
Erdogan was due to hold talks with Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi before attending an official dinner on Monday night, Abdullah's spokesman told AFP.
Discussions are expected to centre on post-tsunami relief efforts and the Turkish leader will present the Malaysian government with a cheque for 225,000 dollars in addition to an earlier contribution of 75,000 dollars, the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Sixty-eight people were killed when the tsunami hit Malaysia.
Erdogan on Sunday made a brief visit to Indonesia's Aceh province, the area worst hit by the tsunami, and offered to build at least 1,000 homes for survivors.
The Turkish premier, who is accompanied by a retinue of some 150 including Trade Minister Mehmet Aydin, is due to leave Tuesday for Thailand.
