ANKARA (AA)- Two helicopters each from Turkey, the Netherlands and Spain under International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) participated in search and rescue efforts to find Afghan jet which crashed near Pashawar, on Friday.
Turkish Prime Ministry Press Center stated that Turkish Embassy in Afghanistan said naval elements under the auspices of ISAF participated in search and rescue efforts to find the plane. Two helicopters of Afghan Defense Ministry continue efforts in the region remaining out of ISAF's mission purview.
''Helicopters of U.S. Base in Bagram also started search and rescue efforts in the region remaining out of mission purview of ISAF. The efforts are carried on under heavy winter conditions,'' added Prime Ministry.
''The definite location where the plane had crashed is not clear yet. The crash scene may be 30 miles southeast of Kabul,'' noted the Prime Ministry.
Earlier in the day, an Afghan Boeing 737 jet belonging to Kam-Air Airlines, flying from western city of Herat to Kabul, could not land at the Kabul airport due to a snow storm and was rerouted to Pashawar, and it was reported missing after it was given clearance to land at the airport. Later it was announced that the plane had crashed. There were 104 people on board, including 96 passengers and eight crew members.
