WASHINGTON, Feb 4 (AFP) - US consumer sentiment turned lower in late January, according to a survey released Friday by the University of Michigan.
The consumer sentiment index weakened to 95.5 in late January from 95.8 earlier in the month. Economists had expected the index to rise to 96 in late January.
The index was also below the 97.1 level reached in December.
