Nine tsunami survivors found on India's Andamans archipelago

PORT BLAIR, India, Feb 2 (AFP) - Indian rescuers Wednesday found nine survivors of last month's tsunami disaster in the tropical Andamans archipelago near Thailand, police told AFP.
"It is a miracle, it is an an act of God, that (they) are alive," said Shaukat Ali, police chief of Campbell Bay, the southernmost island in the Andamans and Nicobar chain.
He said five men, three children and one woman, all of them emaciated, were picked up by a police party 38 days after towering waves devastated the Indian Ocean archipelago on December 26.
"They lived off coconuts and coconut water for all these days," Ali said by telephone from Campbell Bay, one of the islands in the Andamans chain worst hit by the tsunami.
