BETHLEHEM, West Bank, Jan 31 (AFP) - An Israeli soldier was wounded late Monday after Palestinians threw an explosive device at an army outpost near the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Palestinian witnesses and the Israeli army said.
Witnesses said the device was thrown at a post near the Jewish holy site of Rachel's Tomb, just north of Bethlehem.
An army spokewoman confirmed the incident, saying the soldier had been only lightly injured in the incident.
The incident occurred as former Palestinian security minister Mohammed Dahlan was meeting with Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz to finalise an accord for the planned transfer of security control in several West Bank towns.
