U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton briefly lost consciousness on Monday while addressing the Amherst Chamber of Commerce in Buffalo, New York, on the topic of social security. She was 57 at the time.
Before fainting, Clinton told the audience she was feeling ill after coming down with a stomach virus. Her office said she "felt weak, needed to sit down, and then fainted briefly" and received prompt medical attention at the scene.
Despite the episode, Clinton continued with her planned itinerary, traveling to a Catholic college in Buffalo to deliver a separate address on health care.
