ANKARA (AA) - Republican People's Party (CHP) Istanbul deputy Zulfu Livaneli said on Friday that he will not disclose his candidacy for party leadership.
Livaneli told reporters, ''there is a very tense atmosphere prior to extraordinary convention of the party. Together with a group of deputies and provincial leaders, we invited the party to a 'peace project' 20 days ago, and we have tried to realize the formula of 'single candidate for change'.''
''Disclosures of candidacy for leadership removed this peace alternative,'' he added.
Livaneli said, ''as we have stated from the beginning, we do not want to be a part of a new separation and argument within CHP. We thank CHP members who supported us. We wish developments which worry us will not occur. We wish success to other candidates, and announce that we will not become candidate for leadership.''
